Lane cedar chest serial value8/30/2023 I would now like to ask the box gods for another example of a four digit number – one I can use to confirm the backward ready methodology. Contrary to my discussion in my last post, if interpreted backwards, the Short Round date fits my chronology better because it moves from 1952 to 1956 – closer to the 1957 date I have documented for this box variation. As you can see, the last three 3-digit numbers can represent dates either forwards or backwards. These are the number stamps I have documented so far…Ĥ511, 453, 155 and 652. Given this stamp is on a Tall box, this date fits the chronology. Therefore, if this number above represents a date, it would HAVE to be read backwards – November of 1954. So, for example 455101 would be a manufacture date of October 15, 1954…10/15/54. I don’t think I’ve talked about this before but, for the most part Lane dated their full sized cedar chests (and other furniture pieces they made) by use of the serial number usually on the bottom of the piece. In my last post I asked the box gods for a 4 digit number stamp on the bottom of a box.
